introducing my "eclectic" life

Nice to meet you!

Writer. Dreamer. Doer. Not always in that order.

While covering "reel" life for nearly a decade, it is also time to focus on the "real" one. Welcome to my eclectic life! It is not always glamorous but it is mine. Fun fact: I love my dog Chewy, traveling, adventure, TV, movies, and a good mystery.

Oh Canada: Why I'm Desperate To Make A Return Trip

Hello again! I hope this post finds you doing spectacularly well. If you have read earlier posts here, you know that the long-running TV series “Heartland” has been part of an emotional re-awakening that began with Chewy. It has also reminded me of how much I love Canada and why. Four years ago, my family and I traveled to Canada, saw Niagara Falls, and more.

It was our first time visiting, and it was magical. I truly fell in love with Canada. The place, the atmosphere, and the people were amazing. Our first trip there was the stuff of dreamlike legend. Why? There were truly no rough spots. Not too long after our first trip in spring, we returned in winter. This experience was no less magical, although moments of “reality” bled through a bit more.

Niagara Falls is a must-see!

Important to note is that if you ever plan to visit Niagara Falls, you should definitely visit the Canadian side. It is built up with places to eat and see the Falls from inside a fantastic viewing area. Thus, giving you a chance to warm up (and cool down) depending on what time of year you visit.

Niagara Falls is a gorgeous spot that TV and movies cannot do justice. You really need to see them in person. Getting to visit Niagara Falls during our second Canadian adventure was one of the absolute highlights of the trip, and a memory we will cherish forever.

All told, it was another phenomenal trip, and in 2020 we were planning to return to Canada again, this time to Montreal, which would have been a first. The 2020 World Figure Skating Championships were scheduled to happen there in March before getting cancelled due to the pandemic. At one point, my family was planning to attend. Worsening fibromyalgia symptoms made the trip an overwhelming thought, while my wanderlust still made it appealing.

That trip did not end up happening.

Hence, in a few plain words, I miss Canada. I desperately want to go there again with my family. It is a majestic place, and while our first two trips were about our passion for figure skating, our next one will possibly be about our love for “Heartland.” I never thought I would return to Canada excited about something as much as seeing and meeting Canadian figure skating legends, although it has happened.

When it is feasible, my family hopes to go back to Canada—this time, being able to show Chewy the remarkable place that we love so much. Canada is truly the country of my heart, and who better to share it with than the little guy who owns it? Exactly. There is also the dream of us living abroad for a while.

Would that mean living in Canada? The answer is obviously up in the air. I am learning a language that would navigate us somewhere else. Enough about me, though. Is there a place you consider the “country of your heart”? Let me know in the comments section below.
